The problem
Plastering done without proper preparation fails visibly.
Within months of a bad plaster job you'll see hairline cracks appearing from corners, patches lifting, or uneven sheen under raking light. Those aren't just aesthetic problems — they're signs the substrate wasn't right before the plaster went on.
Victorian solid brick walls, cavity walls, and modern plasterboard all behave differently and need different preparation approaches. That's where experience matters.
The Hancock approach
The substrate is assessed. Then we plaster.
We assess suction, existing damage, and wall type before starting. Bonding agent, PVA, or scratch coat as appropriate. The preparation stage takes as long as it needs to — it's what determines whether the finish holds flat in twelve months.
We cover new-build plastering, full replastering during renovations, and room-by-room work for occupied properties.
