Plastering

Full plastering across new builds, renovations, and Victorian stock. Proper substrate preparation every time.

The problem

Plastering done without proper preparation fails visibly.

Within months of a bad plaster job you'll see hairline cracks appearing from corners, patches lifting, or uneven sheen under raking light. Those aren't just aesthetic problems — they're signs the substrate wasn't right before the plaster went on.

Victorian solid brick walls, cavity walls, and modern plasterboard all behave differently and need different preparation approaches. That's where experience matters.

The Hancock approach

The substrate is assessed. Then we plaster.

We assess suction, existing damage, and wall type before starting. Bonding agent, PVA, or scratch coat as appropriate. The preparation stage takes as long as it needs to — it's what determines whether the finish holds flat in twelve months.

We cover new-build plastering, full replastering during renovations, and room-by-room work for occupied properties.

FAQs

Plastering — frequently asked questions

Straight answers about our plastering and painting work across Middlesex and the Home Counties. Still unsure? Call 07734 903439.

How much does plastering cost in Middlesex and the Home Counties?
Every plastering job is quoted at a fixed price agreed before work starts, so there are no surprises or hourly rates. The cost depends on room size, wall condition and whether it's a skim or full re-plaster — call 07734 903439 for a free, no-obligation quote.
How long does it take to plaster a room?
A single-room skim is usually finished in a day, while a full re-plaster of a larger space takes two to three days including drying time. We confirm exact timings with your fixed-price quote.
How long should new plaster dry before painting?
Fresh plaster normally needs at least a week to dry out fully — longer in colder, damper months — before it is painted. We always tell you when your walls are ready to decorate.
Are your plasterers qualified?
Yes. All four of our team are City & Guilds certified and every plastering job is completed in-house — we never use subcontractors.
Do you clear up after plastering work?
We protect floors and furniture, keep dust to a minimum and leave the room clean and ready. Tidy, considerate working is part of every job.
