These Terms of Service ("Terms") set out the basis on which Hancock Plastering & Painting Services ("we", "us" or "our") provides plastering, painting and decorating services and on which you may use our website. By requesting a quotation, booking work, or using this website, you agree to these Terms.
1. About us
Hancock Plastering & Painting Services is a plastering and painting contractor based at 3 Anderson Close, Harefield, Middlesex, UB9 6HF. You can contact us by phone on 07734 903439 or by email at hancockplasteringpainting@gmail.com.
2. Quotations
Any quotation we provide is based on the information and access available to us at the time. Quotations are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise. The fixed price we agree before work starts will not change unless the scope of work changes, unforeseen conditions are discovered (for example, hidden damp, structural defects or unstable substrates), or you request additional work. Any such changes will be discussed and agreed with you before proceeding.
3. Bookings and scheduling
A booking is confirmed once a date has been agreed between us. We will make every reasonable effort to start and complete work on the agreed dates, but timescales may be affected by factors outside our control, such as weather (particularly for external rendering and painting), drying times, or delays in materials.
4. Cancellations
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us as much notice as possible. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before your booking incur a £100 cancellation fee. This covers reserved time and any materials or preparation already committed.
5. Your responsibilities
To allow us to carry out the work safely and to a high standard, you agree to:
- Provide safe and reasonable access to the work areas at the agreed times;
- Clear or protect furniture, valuables and personal belongings, unless we have agreed otherwise;
- Make us aware of any known hazards, such as asbestos, faulty wiring or damp;
- Provide access to a water supply and electricity where required;
- Confirm any colours, finishes and materials before work begins.
6. Materials and workmanship
We use quality materials appropriate to each job and carry out all work in a professional and workmanlike manner. Plaster, render and paint require adequate drying and curing time; we will advise you of these where relevant. Natural variations in materials and minor differences between batches of paint or plaster are normal and are not considered defects.
7. Payment
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due on completion of the work. For larger projects we may agree a deposit and/or staged payments in advance. We will tell you the accepted payment methods at the time of booking. We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue invoices in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 where applicable.
8. Guarantee and snagging
We take pride in our work. If you notice any issues with our workmanship after completion, please tell us promptly and we will inspect and put right any genuine defects in our work at no extra cost. This guarantee does not cover damage caused by normal wear and tear, movement of the building, damp or water ingress, third-party work, or failure to follow our aftercare advice.
9. Liability
We will carry out our work with reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for pre-existing defects, for issues arising from conditions hidden at the time of quoting, or for any loss that was not reasonably foreseeable. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
10. Photographs
We may take photographs of completed work for our portfolio, website and marketing. These will not identify you or your address without your consent. Please let us know in writing if you would prefer us not to photograph your project.
11. Use of this website
