About this area
Windsor has one of the highest concentrations of conservation area and period property in our coverage zone.
Windsor's Georgian and Victorian town centre properties — particularly around the Castle, Park Street, and Sheet Street — carry conservation area designations that affect permitted external finishes. Lime-compatible materials are often required on the oldest properties. Original cornicing, sash windows, and period plaster features are the norm in these streets.
The Clewer and Dedworth areas bring modern executive housing alongside established residential streets. Venetian plastering enquiries are consistent from Windsor — it's the natural finish choice for a high-end interior in a period building.
Area facts
Neighbourhoods we work in
A royal town built around period property and conservation.
Windsor's centre is dominated by Georgian and Victorian townhouses, much of it within conservation areas in the shadow of the Castle. This is genuine period fabric — solid-brick construction, lime plaster behind later skims, original sash windows, cornicing and ceiling detail worth preserving. Work here has to be done sympathetically, with the right materials for the wall, not just whatever's quickest.
Clewer and Dedworth to the west bring 20th-century and postwar residential into the mix — more conventional cavity-wall stock with rendered and painted elevations. Old Windsor and the riverside roads add high-value detached housing, while modern apartment developments have appeared around the town centre.
The period stock is what sets Windsor apart from our suburban areas — and it's why Venetian plastering, sash window painting, and careful traditional repair work feature so heavily in what we're asked to do here.
What homeowners ask for
Period-sensitive finishes done properly.
Windsor enquiries lean toward the higher-specification end: polished Venetian plaster in hallways and principal rooms, careful repair of original lime plaster and cornicing, sash window overhaul and repainting, and quality interior decorating in homes where the finish is expected to match the address. On conservation properties, getting the right breathable materials onto a solid wall is not optional — modern gypsum and plastic paint trap moisture and cause more harm than good.
Exterior masonry and render painting on the Clewer and Dedworth stock we schedule for the drier months. Sash window work — strip, repair, prime, and finish — is a year-round speciality.
Clients here want it right, want it discreet, and want a clear fixed price before anyone picks up a tool. That's how we operate.
