Uxbridge town centre is predominantly commercial with substantial 1960s–80s office and retail stock. The residential areas branch out into Hillingdon, Cowley, and Uxbridge Moor — a mix of Victorian workers' terraces, interwar semis, and newer development around the tube station corridor.

Uxbridge is the administrative heart of Hillingdon — a busy commercial centre with offices, retail, and the Brunel University campus, ringed by residential neighbourhoods of very different ages. Cowley and Yiewsley hold older terraced and interwar housing; Hillingdon runs from Victorian through 1930s semis to postwar estates; and the St Andrew's Park development on the former RAF Uxbridge site has added a large pocket of modern new-build apartments and houses.
That spread means we move between two kinds of work in Uxbridge — domestic plastering and decorating on the residential streets, and commercial decorating for the offices, lettings, and retail units around the town centre and the Chimes.
