Pebble Dashing

Full strip and re-dash or targeted patch repairs. One of the most common external wall problems on Middlesex's postwar stock.

The problem

Failing pebble dash is one of the most common issues in Middlesex's housing stock.

1960s and 1970s pebble-dashed semis (common throughout Ruislip, Ickenham, Eastcote, and Uxbridge) develop patches where the dash has blown from the render base. Moss and moisture sit in the voids. Left unattended, the underlying render deteriorates.

Sometimes patching is the right answer. Sometimes the whole elevation needs stripping and re-dashing. We'll tell you which the wall needs and why.

What is pebble dashing and is it still popular?

Pebble dashing throws a layer of small stones onto a fresh render coat for a hard-wearing, low-maintenance exterior. It remains a practical, weather-resistant choice for many homes across Middlesex and the Home Counties.

How much does pebble dashing cost?

Can you repair patches of damaged pebble dash?

Yes. We can patch-repair sections and blend the finish, or re-dash a whole elevation where the existing coat has failed.

How long does pebble dashing last?

Applied properly over a sound base, pebble dash can last decades with very little maintenance, which is a big part of its appeal.

Can pebble dashing be painted over?

It can, using a breathable masonry paint. We can both apply pebble dash and paint exterior walls, so the whole job is handled in-house.
